Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 22, 2026
Scanniq ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our iOS application ("App").
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Scanned Documents: Images and PDFs you create are stored locally on your device and, if enabled, in your personal iCloud account. We cannot access these files.
- Subscription Information: If you subscribe to Scanniq Pro, payment is processed by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
Information Collected Automatically
- Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used (e.g., which features are popular, session length). This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
- Subscription Status: We use RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases and verify subscription entitlements.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To operate and improve the App
- To understand aggregate usage patterns
- To verify your subscription status
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Device Permissions
The App requests the following permissions:
- Camera: Required to scan documents. Camera access is used only when you initiate a scan.
- Face ID / Touch ID: Optional. Used to lock the App or individual documents if you choose to enable this feature.
- Photo Library: Optional. Used only when you explicitly choose to save a scanned image to your photo library.
- iCloud: Used to sync your documents across your devices. iCloud data is stored in your personal Apple account, which is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
You can revoke any permission at any time in your device's Settings app.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your documents are stored locally on your device and in your private iCloud container (if iCloud sync is enabled). We use Apple's CloudKit framework, which means your documents are encrypted in transit and at rest using Apple's security infrastructure.
We do not operate our own document storage servers. We have no ability to view, access, or recover your scanned documents.
5. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Apple iCloud / CloudKit — Document storage and sync (Apple Privacy Policy)
- Firebase Analytics (Google) — Usage analytics (Firebase Privacy)
- RevenueCat — Subscription management (RevenueCat Privacy Policy)
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your Rights
You may have rights under applicable law, including the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Opt out of Firebase Analytics by limiting ad tracking on your device and reviewing Google's privacy controls for Firebase (Firebase Privacy)
Since documents are stored in your iCloud account, you can delete them at any time from within the App or via iCloud.com.
